Workforce Solutions Annual Report 2022
Employer Services

Workforce Solutions helps meet the workforce needs of local businesses. The Ramsey County Means Business website integrates the county’s economic development and workforce development resources in one website to offer businesses easy access to business development resources and incentives as well as workforce information.
Employer resources featured:
  • Job Connect, a free self-service job board created in collaboration with local chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and municipalities. Job Connect had nearly 5,700 page views in 2022.
  • comprehensive partner directory of local and regional organizations that offer support programs for growing businesses. Whether looking to recruit new employees, start an internship program or train existing employees on the latest equipment or software, the directory provides access to resources needed to thrive.
  • A workforce training dashboard that showcases community-based training programs in and near Ramsey County. Businesses can connect with these training organizations as a source for qualified job candidates. The training dashboard had over 5,600 page views in 2022.

Partnerships are critical

In September, Workforce Solutions launched the Inclusive Employer Champions initiative in collaboration with eight local chambers of commerce and economic development organizations. The program is designed to bring intentional collaboration and resource sharing across all workforce services and programming in the county to benefit Ramsey County employers.
Another example of an impactful collaboration was the Workforce Recruitment Resources Fair held in October in partnership with the city of Roseville. This unique event allowed area employers to meet with 20 local organizations that train individuals for careers in high demand industries and occupations. Over 60 human resource and employee recruitment professionals came to learn how to tap into these pipelines for potential employees.
Other valuable county-employer partnership activities include:
  • Posting jobs and reviewing Workforce Solutions’ candidate profiles to find job seekers with the right skill set.
  • Providing internships and work experiences for program-enrolled job seekers.
  • Partnering on training grants to secure a skilled workforce.
  • Hiring diverse participants to fill essential roles.

With over 400 employees, BIX actively engages in community initiatives and values their diverse workforce. BIX has partnered with Workforce Solutions and other workforce development providers on several initiatives over the past year. They enthusiastically attended targeted hiring fairs for immigrants and refugees including recent evacuees from Afghanistan. In the Afghan initiative, they hired and onboarded 25 new employees, offered English language classes on the job and provided onsite interpreters and work transportation.
In addition, BIX realized that these new Minnesotans needed assistance with obtaining a driver’s license. Being resourceful and committed to their employees, BIX provided a preparation course to help employees pass their driver’s permit test. BIX even scheduled the appointment and provided transportation and an interpreter for the group to take their permit test.
Afifa Sakib and her husband Hamidullah Nyazi joined the BIX team on May 25.  They regularly attend onsite English classes and participated in the driver’s permit preparation classes. When asked what she likes about working at BIX, Afifa said, “I am happy here. BIX helps us with many things. They help us with the permit which was a new experience. Everyone who works here is kind.”
BIX supports employees representing more than 10 languages and cultures in a workplace that is inclusive and welcoming. BIX is committed to providing employment and growth opportunities for employees with no or limited English skills.
Ramsey County Workforce Solutions is pleased to recognize BIX as a 2022 Employer Partner.
